An Integrative Wellness Coach acts as a guide with the intention of empowering you to make lasting health behavior changes, that are the cornerstone for lifelong health and wellbeing.
Integrative Wellness Coaching (aka. Lifestyle Medicine) offers in-depth support that goes beyond prescribing. Integrative Wellness Coaching explores with a client how they can generate new coping strategies that positively effect health & wellbeing, through integrating skills & methods that meet the daily needs for each individual client.
Is an Integrative Wellness Coach similar to a Nutritionist?
Although exploring nutrition is something that I do, I am not a certified nutritionist. If a clients needs are beyond my scope of practice I refer them to another professional who can help meet those needs.
With a clients documented permission, I can work in collaboration with nutritionists, physiologists, psychologists, physicians and any other professional they request.
In the area of food and nutrition, I provide education and experimental opportunities through a Contemplative Practice known as "Mindful Eating".
This method of approaching food and nutrition provides the opportunity to explore the thoughts, feelings, and impulses around food.
The practice of paying attention to what occurs before, during and after eating allows for an attunement to ones own body and mind.
This practice is a skill you can take with you to any occasion where food is involved, and make conscious decisions instead of impulsive reactions.
How is Coaching different than Psychotherapy?
The typical duration for clients is a minimum 6-8 weekly sessions of 30 minutes. The use of supplemental methods in between sessions can provide you with further integration of the work we do in session. It is most common for clients to move onto new areas of focus even after the 6-8 week time period.
