A bit about me... As a mother of two young boys (both c-section babies), I have an intimate understanding of the challenges of life & parenthood, and that typically the first thing to go is our self-care. When I was 10 years old, I was in a high-speed bike accident that left me with scars on my face, along with chronic back and neck issues (ie. Scoliosis). I have learned over the years that in order to maintain function, my back requires daily strength and flexibility through specific stretches, Pilates and isometric exercises. I believe that in life, there will always be some degree of adjustment happening, and with that adjustment the opportunity to learn and grow. I help my clients using knowledge and skills I've acquired through: a Master's Degree education in Counseling Psychology from SCU (2012) with a focus in Health Psychology, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing, a Partnership of 15 years, Motherhood of two sons, years of Physical Therapy for Scoliosis, a BA in Dance from Mills College with a focus in Kinesiology, Choreography and Psychology, and Health&Wellness Coach training through MayoClinic (2019) after which I sit for the National Board Certification for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBC-HWC) developed by the Board of Medical Examiners. When I'm not working with clients, I'm managing a household of boys & dogs, and enjoying an active lifestyle.
What is NBC-HWC
The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) work collaboratively to implement standards leading to certification as a health & wellness coach. The credential enables those certified to provide evidence of their expertise and quality as competent health & wellness coaches. Further, the credential allows stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, patients, employers, and educators to identify practitioners who have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to effective health and wellness coaching.
